Located deep in the heart of Los Angeles’ Koreatown, this hybrid mix of a Lounge, Restaurant and a Coffee Bar are designed to serve the influx of new residents in this rapidly-transforming neighborhood. The hidden Lounge can only be accessed through the back of a parking garage and features a laser cut perforated steel graphic wall with backlit glowing colored light that transforms a bold mural on the outside of the building by the celebrated street artist D*FACE. The bar is bathed in golden metallic hues, and accentuated overhead by an exploded disco ball of Swarovski crystals. Comfort comes from the sexy sinuous curves of the seating and walls, creating a sense of intimacy and intrigue, in an urban palette of grey and black. Our vision for the 24-hour Restaurant and Coffee Bar, both accessed directly from Wilshire Boulevard, reflects the spirit of the neighborhood; materials such as raw concrete, exposed plumbing and ducts, walls and shelves constructed from industrial-grade particle board, and street art paintings brought inside — combined with an intricate geometric mirrored sculpture above the bar — create an exciting approach to its design and construction that is simple and captures the energy of this place.
