CAFÉ 3, GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM, NEW YORK, NY
The nuanced shapes of this iconic building create inventive forms for an elliptical espresso bar and attenuated tapered counters. The pure Corian forms abstract the spatial sequence of spiraling through the rotunda, bringing dynamic movement to 850 square feet off the Kandinsky Gallery overlooking Central Park. Though complex in geometry, their discreet calligraphy almost disappears. They enliven this first addition to the interior of Wright’s building with movement, sculpture, and surprise.
